The other day I found a small barbie toy on the floor so I attempted to throw it in the toy room. I misjudged and hit Gordon in the head. This is what he said: "hey, dat weelly hurt.....jut kiting it dint hurt dat bad.....but hey yeah dat hurt weelly bad....ouch."
I started laughing. It was so cute. Then he was embarrassed.
The things kids say can really make my day.
I come from a BIG family. There is always something going on with someone.....good and bad. This is my opportunity to share it all. To share the stories about how we are all nuts in our own way!

Un-invited guests
So I realized a pet peeve that I have.
When people come over uninvited, right during dinner, eat, then don't offer to help clean-up or chip in for the food ordered and then leave.
I don't want to sign like a major witch but honestly........do people have any courtesy.
Now I can see how the first couple of times I can be a good host and not complain. Then when it keeps happening and the mess keeps getting bigger and bigger....I start to lose my mind. I work all day and go to school full-time. I teach at church and have three children. I don't have all the time in the world to be cleaning every night all night.
So next time you want to come for dinner without an invitation, I just ask that you can chip in once in awhile or at least help clean-up. Thanks!

How this all started-Podcast
How this all started
The above link is the Podcast of the following. If you are not able to click and listen you may read it below.
So where did I get this crazy idea to write a blog about my family nuts? Well, let me give you a glimpse of how this happened. Last year, my niece got married. This was the first of the cousins, so it was a pretty big deal. The ceremony and dinner was located in New York City. It just happened to be a record hot day. I think it was around 110 degrees. This experience made me realize that heat and family do not go well together. There were a lot of things that happened that could count towards having, pretty much, the craziest wedding of all times.

This experience made me realize that heat and family do not go well together. There were a lot of things that happened that could count towards having, pretty much, the craziest wedding of all times.
So contemplating
this I realized that as much as I love my family, that they were a little
nuts. During this weekend we got on
each other’s nerves and there were things that were said that could have been
avoided. Now I realize that in high
stress times everyone is a little on edge. But with almost everything that
happened I was like….”are you stinkin serious?”
So rather than
complain, I tried to make the best of the situations. At the beginning of the trip I knew my main goal was making sure
that my sister; “the mother of the bride” had full use of my energy. The other goal was making sure that the
bride was unaware of any stressful situations.
Well I succeed in the first, I was able to help my sister and make
things easier for her. The second one
slipped past and of course the bride did find out about things that could have
been avoided.
So, on my long
12-hour trip back home I thought about all the crazy things that happened and how
I could write a book about this experience.
I realized I could write a chapter for each situation that took place. I
laughed to myself thinking how it would be so funny for other people to read
and get the same reaction that I had. “Are you stinkin serious?”
It would be funny, even sad, maybe make you
cry and even make you mad. Although
this sounded like a great idea, I then thought about the people involved; my
family. I thought about the feelings
that would be hurt, the souls that could be crushed, and the family ties that
could possibly be broken. So, I decided I did not want that to happen. So my
idea of writing a book was pushed off my to-do list.
Recently I started
taking classes online through Kaplan University. I was excited when I picked the class, “Tools for the Digital
Age.” I knew there were many things that I needed to learn and this
class was just what I needed. So for our
main project we are to design a blog.
This seemed like my golden opportunity to write about what was on my
mind with my family. I can share my life experiences about my loved ones on my
blog site. I knew right off the bat
that I wanted to write about my family experiences, but do it in a way that was
without pointing the finger at anyone individually. I want this blog to be for my sake and also to help others feel
that their family might be a little less nutty than mine.
So what to call
it? There is a pillow at my Mom’s house
that says, “My family tree is full of nuts.”
Every time I see this pillow I laugh and think of the truth it has. I know that I have a family that is full of
a lot of nutty people that do nutty things.
This title seemed to fit perfectly.
So this is what it’s all about, the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s my blog about my family tree that is
full of nuts. I hope that many of you can relate and all enjoy my new blog. Come
back often to hear a new story about another nut on the tree.

Just Facebook!
Benefits: I like that I can keep in touch with family, and friends in a conveinent and fast way. It is also a great way to meet new people to network through. I have been able to get new customers through networking on facebook. I have been able to find out about new workout classes, and pages that interest me. There are many things that I gain from facebook, but I do not spend very much time on things. I often find out things by face before I see it on facebook.
Challenges: I think you have to be disciplined to only get on so many times a day or only spend so much time on it at once. It can be time consuming and a waste of time. You have to set yourself up to have rules and stick to those rules. It can also be challenging on how careful we need to be. I put a lot of personal information about my family on facebook so I have my privacy settings so that only friends can see it. I only friend people that I know. This can be hard to attract new networks if I'm being careful who I friend.
I do not use any other microblogs, besides facebook. I did start to get a membership for twitter, but realized I would not use it. There weren't really any of my friends using it and I'm not the type of person to follow the stars. I could care less what they are doing. I wouldn't put numerous updates on twitter, I really wouldn't want people to know exactly what I'm doing or where I am at. I find that a little disturbing that people post those types of things.

podcast?
Till last week I didn't know what a podcast is....so I guess I'm the nut this time. Who knows about pod casting? I am learning about this in my class, Tools for the Digital Age. I will be posting one soon. I did a little research to find out what it is and actually found it to be very cool. It's like radio listening but to topics of interest. The listener chooses what topic to listen too and there are thousands of podcast to hear. I chose to use podbean.com because it looks user friendly. I also like that I can synchronize my podcast here to my blog site. It also allows users to download apps of their favorites. This was very interesting to learn. Thanks Kaplan!

Dress for Comfort
I was raised in a home with a mother who always dressed to impress. She would sew nine children beautiful matching outfits. We always had nice clothes even if she didn't spend a lot of money. So at any early age I learned to find second hand clothes that I could wear and look like I spent money on. I also learned how to sew and have made my children matching outfits. I like to be comfortable but dress nice.
Now my husband is a different story. His idea of comfortable is basically pajamas. He likes to go to the gym but he thinks that gym clothes are OK to wear all day. He wears them to sleep, workout, and anywhere else he has to go. His attire is usually worn out T-shirts, basketball shorts, or sweat pants. He has even started wearing his Dad's velcro shoes. He says that they are easy to put on and comfortable. Now this should not be allowed unless you are under the age of 6 or over the age of 65. I encourage him to dress up a little when he goes out of the house. He is still so young and getting too comfortable in dressing like he is an old man. I can I make him see that he looks a little nuts?

Where did he get that idea?
This morning my daughter, Anna was having a hard time getting up. She was trying to stay home and skip school. (I know....she's only 1st grade....I can only imagine what the next 11 years will be like)
I was getting impatient and told her that if she did not get up and start getting dressed then I was going to spank her butt. She still resisted so I started lightly patting her side. She was laughing at me and fighting so that I could not turn her over to spank her butt. I finally turned her and held her to the side and gently spanked her. She was still laughing at me. It was all in a joking way.
Daddy (Joe) comes up and tells her to get up as well. He also tells her she will get a spank if she does not get ready for school. He jokingly goes to her and pats her side. My 4 year old, Gordon tells Daddy that he needs to spank her hard. So Joe pretends to spank her hard. She is still laughing. Gordon then says that he needs to turn her to the side, hold her down, and spank her butt HARD! We all start laughing. He was so serious. He knew that if we really spanked her she would listen.
She finally did get up and got dressed. Anna thought it was so funny what Gordon said. We all had a smile on our face this morning. I'm so glad I have these little nuts that make me laugh in a hectic schedule. My tree would be bare without those nuts.

My 1st Nut
So Joe (my husband) needs new basketball shoes. We look at 2 malls in about 7 different stores. He finds a couple that he likes but none in his size. I finally see some on his feet. My first response was, "Do those even fit? They look small." He shrugs and we leave empty handed. He continues this quest the next day. He finally comes home with a bag. He informs me that his size was wrong. He needs a 11.5 not a 10.5. He is confused because he doesn't understand why his foot has grown. Then he says, "Well I guess since I put on weight it's weighing me down more and made my feet stretch bigger." I laugh and tell him he is such a nut!
My Love
Let me start by saying how much I love my family. I have a wonderful husband that makes me laugh, cry, and roll my eyes. I love him so much because he is my Rock. I have three beautiful kids that I can't imagine my life without. They bring me so much joy and I love them with all my heart. I have two wonderful parents that I love very much. They have taught me so much that has benefited me in my life. I have four sisters and four brothers that I think about everyday. I love them all. I have 49 nieces/nephews! Yes 49! (that is only from sisters and brothers) I love all of them and I love being an Aunt. It is the best to get the kids all excited and send them off with their parents ;) I also have wonderful in-laws. They are all great people with lots of love. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family.
